Painting birds is so joyful for me. Capturing the essence of this thrush while keeping a loose and abstracted background was the goal here. See the detail for some scratching through from the top layer of paint to a brighter underpainting layer.

Painted on raised birch panel 3/4” deep. Sides left natural wood. Unframed.
